Prudential RideLondon Cycling Event
The Prudential RideLondon cycling events return on the weekend of Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August, taking place across a revised route in London and Surrey.
Freecycle – Saturday 1 August 2015, 09:00-16:00
The route for this year’s Freecycle is significantly different to previous years and includes Kingsway, Chancery Lane, New Fetter Lane, Aldwych, Strand, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and Waterloo Bridge. Roads on the route will be closed between 06:00 and 18:00.
Grand Prix – Saturday 1 August 2015
The Grand Prix takes place in St James’s Park and there will be the following road closures in the area:
· Friday 31 July: Marlborough Road, and The Mall will be closed to traffic between Horse Guards Road and Queen's Gardens from 7:00
· Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August: All park roads in St James's Park and The Green Park will be closed from 4:00 on Saturday morning
· Monday 3 August: All park roads in St James's Park and The Green Park will be closed from 12:01 until 6:00 on Monday morning
· Parking on the Mall North Horse ride is suspended on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
London-Surrey 100 – Sunday 2 August 2015
The London-Surrey 100 starts at 06:00 in the Olympic Park and ends in The Mall. A map showing the route is available here and it has also been plotted on Google Maps here.
London-Surrey Classic – Sunday 2 August 2015
This year the race starts at Horse Guards Parade and then finishes in The Mall.
The race starts at 13:30 and so there will be some delays to traffic between 13:00 and 14:00 in the area around Horse Guards Parade and along Birdcage Walk, Buckingham Gate, Lower Grosvenor Place, Grosvenor Place and Hyde Park Corner as the riders set off. During the start of the race there will be police motorcyclists holding traffic for short periods where necessary to allow the riders to pass safely.
On Sunday Park Lane (southbound) will be closed at Marble Arch from 05:00 but there will be signed bus diversion routes in place and taxis will be allowed to use these. The Hyde Park Corner underpass will also be closed.
Southbound traffic will be allowed in Grosvenor Place plus Westminster Bridge will be accessible from Victoria Embankment and there will be access to the Whitehall hotels from Victoria Embankment.
Taxi Ranks
Taxi ranks along the route will be suspended whilst the race takes place. This includes the rank at Putney Station but as in previous years the night time rank in Upper Richmond Road will operate all day on Sunday. The direction of the taxi rank in Hans Road, outside door 10 of Harrods, will be reversed between 05:00 and 15:00.
