If you are unfamiliar
with Knowledge Point Sheets,
the following information should help you understand them. These
are actual examination questions collected at the PCO and produced
for you to test yourself. Each appearance is identified by the initials
or an abbreviated version of the examiners name i.e. CC - Courtney
Cornell or ND - Nicola Danvers (see Sample). This is then followed
by a dash and a unit of days.
 |
This
will always be either 56, 28 or 21 being the standard of units
used by the Public Carriage Office to judge competence. Occasionally
you will see either 56-28 or 28-21. This means a trainee was
dropped from one level of competence to the next on that appearance.
You will also occasionally see REQ. |
This is an abbreviation
for a Requisition for a Licence; in other words the
trainee has completed the knowledge on that appearance and only
has the suburb routes left to learn. Some
appearances appear to be duplications. For example, a question could
be asked as Storm Club to Dovehouse Green which is Charing Cross
Road to Kings Road, yet the next question is Moon under the
Water P.H. to Chelsea Fire Station, for which the answers are the
same - Charing Cross Road to Kings Road.
From this one
can presume that the candidate failed to answer the first question
due to his not knowing the location of the original point or points
asked. Knowledge Point feels it is important for you to understand
the potential for this to happen, so we publish as many points as
we can hoping you will begin to understand the methodology of the
Knowledge.
You should also
give consideration to so-called dropped points. Knowledge Point
publishes every question it can; sometimes difficult or dropped
points are married up under the appropriate examiner. However, sometimes
they are held over to the following day to allow for more research
time. It is only when we cannot trace a point that it is answered
as Information Wanted. If a response is forthcoming
from trainees we will publish the answer at a later date.
